Steeped in nature, big dreams, and a lot of sweat equity.
Over the course of my career, I worked with companies ranging from a large scale mass-market Halloween costume company and a high-end Bridge designer deeply rooted in New York’s luxurious SoHo and Madison Avenue. I’ve designed Bridge, Contemporary, and Private Label Womenswear, bridal, special occasion gowns, and accessories showcasing thousands of years of traditional Japanese handicraft. I helped launch many new companies and my work has been on every inhabited continent, in high end boutiques and at the mall. Handmade with construction detail, prints, beads or embroidery. All designed with the person wearing them in mind.
All that life lived in a New York Minute. Zip forward to a coast-to-coast move with a young toddler in tow, a newborn during the earliest days of the pandemic, many meticulously designed birthday parties, and both kids at the same school. I am now able to pull my career from that back burner, open the lid, give things a little stir through the steam and see where we are. During my career pause I was able to cultivate many things around me. I nurtured our young children through the early years and homeschooled them while we all adjusted to the evolving world around us. When things felt too big outside, we would spend time in our garden. Micro-focused on the tiniest caterpillars turned chrysalis and witnessed them emerge as beautiful butterflies.
That’s how life goes, right? We inch along, nourishing one another, growing together, evolving and emerging as a new version of ourselves. One moment we are a little kid making doll clothes with one of our favorite people on Earth, then we’re creating clothes for other people in one of the biggest cities on the planet. To then turn our energies inward, creating family and doing as countless have done before us: Cultivating our future generations one moment at a time. It is my hope we emerge as something beautiful, more mindful of how our daily choices shape the world around us.
